User Rating and Review:
A user of Philips Fidelio DS8550 Portable Speaker Dock Given a review as”I bought this when there were few iPad specific speaker systems available. It does a great job and pretty powerful regardless of what other reviews say. It does charge the iPad but slowly compared to the stock charger but the display will say not charging.
My only 2 gripes are related to bluetooth and quirks when the battery runs down. The bluetooth does what it’s supposed to but when connected it sometimes will drop in and out for unknown reasons. It has done this when connected via bluetooth to my Mac and it has also done this when bluetooth connected to my iPad. If I turn off bluetooth and restart the connect process it usually sorts it out. Now problem 2 is when the battery is low it will turn on and start playing from iTunes. Like another reviewer said this usually happens in the middle of the night but only when on dock and only when the charging cord is unplugged and battery gets low. It will try to charge the iPad slowly / drain the speaker battery which causes this issue.”
